While I get what you're saying I still think there's an element of personal responsibility you're not addressing.

Take my sister for example. She worked hard and was fortunate to be selected as a student at our local early college highschool. She graduated highschool with an associates degree.

She decided after graduation to go to an expensive private college. Tens of thousands dollars per semester. Could have gotten the same degree at a state school and saved tons of money. She took out loans, of course, and constantly bitches about paying them back. Whenever I mention it was her decision I get the death stare... But it's true. All that and at one point I made more than her with no degree. The only reason I make less now is I took a way different job to be home more with my wife and kids.

So, while I get that there are different situations I also feel that people need to be held responsible for their own choices. Just my opinion...
