I would trade my "intelligence" and curiosity for the ability to thrive at menial tasks and persevere. If you have both... you're golden, but if you are born with only one I'd take the ability to thrive doing menial tasks over intellectual curiosity in a second.

Why? Because our capitalist hierarchical society has only a few spots for creative and intellectually curious people, and those positions are tightly contested all the time and will go to the more driven regardless of talent... those who can do menial work day in and day out without it getting to them too much are far better off as a whole. Again... if you got both congratulations. Otherwise capitalist society can always use a hard worker, but has no use for extraneous creative types.
Being a menial doesn't pay very well.
