How much time do you think passed between the time they left the store and being rescued. Hours at most. Theres no way to know. Maybe barricaed themselves in the back room. Or find another place thats not infested. I just think the ending is fine the way it was and its bleak and rips your heart out when the reveal happens.

I think the sheer numbers advantage and placement directly after the shooting left them with little hope of that. I concede its possible.

Plot-wise I think outside even being considered an equal option noted just how bad things had broken down by then.

Honestly, the bigger part of why I dislike it is it overshadowing the choice made by the group in the car. The ending was already dark with what preceded the mist clearing.

Suicide is so rarely treated as anything but quitting if not cowardly in a bleak movie despite the horrors throughout. In this movie, it was arguably justifiable.

Just personally, Id have liked the MC just opening the door and wandering into the mist until all that remains of the shot was mist.

I dont think that ending they went with was bad ftr.
