-A lot of people have a black and white view of morality. Rehabilitation relies on the fact people do good and bad things, while many instead believe that there are good people who do things and bad people who do bad things.

-Rampant individualism creates a hostile environment. Rather than seeing a criminal as a fellow person, you would instead see them as a potential threat to your own well being, regardless of whether they are rehabilitated.

-"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." Right wing ideologies are defined by their subscription to hierarchies and social order. While they aren't strangers to making up arbitrary hierarchies, they certainly wouldn't refuse the opportunity to use a semi-justifiable one either, and portraying criminals as second class citizens is just that
