I guess I was pretty naive about how callous some people can be towards other people. I knew that there were racist/bigoted idiots out there, but I assumed they were relatively limited in number in Lord Beyonce's year 2015.

Then Trump comes around and a number of people I considered friends, some co-workers, some bosses, etc. took their masks off and revealed their true selves. I spent a lot of time trying to explain Trump's obvious lies, but at some point I had just had enough. I really looked up to one of my high school band directors since high school... I was very into playing alto sax, and he spent the time to give me pointers and tips on how I could improve. I ended up getting a 1 rating at Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest my senior year specifically because of his advice.

When Trump ran for president, I'd notice a difference in his posts on social media. He would repeatedly post stuff from Breitbart, including racist shit about Obama. Then on January 6th, he was cheering on the insurrection. I was done with him after that.
