I'd rather just see digital storefronts maintained in perpetuity, ideally with emulators for older consoles baked in to new ones (maybe skipping a generation, because emulation does come with sizable overhead system requirements) to allow full backwards compatibility for digital games. Most of the time these days it's the same server and account system being used for multiple generations of console; there's no reason old storefronts can't just be kept up forever. No reason, that is, except to make it easier to sell remakes.
