| Xenogears15 07/17/23 4:55:15 PM #30: | Requiem posted... Imagine if doing that side quest makes you fail the main quest. I read a story about a DM that did this. One of the best/worst games he ever ran by his own estimation. Started out with rumors of a Lich gathering armies in this one city. PCs sort of created their own side quest wherein they liberated this city from an oppressive government. Filled with intrigue, politics, combat, everything. To the gills. PCs were loving it. They won. Then the Lich came with his army and Everyone Died. On one hand it was hilarious, but on another it was also a real dick move.
