Descent time to the wreck is circa 150 minutes, but contact to the sub was lost about 90 minutes into the dive. That's not at all good. If it had reached the bottom and then lost contact, then the assumption would be that it came into contact with the wreck and that was the end of its story. Tragic, but locating it would be relatively easy.

It disappearing while en route probably means it suddenly sprang a leak and imploded immediately after, and what remains of it is a debree field of metal shards scattered over a few square miles.
This is what likely happened. If they hit the resurface button if would likely be found quickly. We know the location of the wreck. There could have been a air malfunction and they are dead with the sub still running.
