my mom has been unemployed and has been struggling to find a job, so she decided to check out doordash. i went with her and we tried using it for the first time.
- a lot of orders were like $3.50 or less. we would always reject those.
- orders that were 10+ miles away were usually not worth it
- the app is pretty clunky. the map kept bringing us in circles, the phone screen would idle with the app being open, sometimes a new order would show up which would prevent us from seeing the existing order.
- doesn't seem like there's a lot of money in this. we spent most of our time waiting for orders to come in, and there was usually like 10-20 minutes of wait time before a good order came in.
- one youtuber i watch used doordash and made $150 after driving 104 miles and 8 hours of work. that seems like a lot of ware and tear on your car for $150. worth it if it wasn't your own car, but not worth it otherwise.
- my mom is still pretty new to the service, so there were things I think she could have done that she didn't do. she rejected some orders she could have taken, she rejected all the deliveries within deliveries, and probably other things i'm not aware of.
anyone here deliver with doordash or a different app?
