No, that's stupid. We have to show some sort of identification to post on social boards? How would we do that? Post our phone number or some other personal information? That will kill the site far more than minimum user level requirements.
In addition, Allen would need to hire/contract a software engineering firm to create the code needed to implement this.
The only way to currently implement this is by limiting people to 1 verified account per usermap, which is problematic since it means only one member in the household (or 2 households if someone is stealing your WiFi) can have a verified account.

No, user level requirements do a good job at reducing the trolls because MOST TROLL ACCOUNTS ARE SOMEBODY'S ALT. (At least that's how it was on 261 before there was a minimum user requirement, don't know about C/E because this place moves too fast for my personal tastes. Even after the user requirement, the majority were alts.) Granted, the alt thing is largely due to quantity-- you can have 10 single-account trolls and 5 trolls who make sure that they always have 1~5 troll accounts active at any one time, which usually get banned within 1~3 months upon reaching the desired user level.
Either way, when you dramatically cut down on trolls because both types have to wait weeks to months before they can freely shitpost again.
