Ive seen five people stick with their loved ones when they were going through hell and watch them die (4x cancer) and 1x old age / pneumonia.

Its fucking awful to watch as an outsider and most of those cases were over a number of years. I have no idea how you can endure that sort of emotional burden for so long. I only pray I never have to go through that or if I do I am strong enough for them. I wouldnt wish it upon anyone and I completely get why someone in a two year relationship would want to drop out.

I really do think we need more adult discussions about end of life care and euthanasia because sometimes keeping someone alive just for the sake of it is cruel.

20 years ago my grandad wouldnt have made it a week but they artificially kept him alive for months before his heart finally gave out. That doesnt seem right. He wanted to die. It was torture on my poor gran who would visit him every day despite being mid 80s and not in great shape herself. It just feels inhumane.
