i enjoyed it. i've seen a fair bit of found footage stuff and this is one of the few that did not bore me during the 1st half. I kept getting caught off guard whenever some creepy or very loud noises would occur every now and then in the background lol. Also liked how voices would get manipulated a bit.

I was already a bit disturbed going into the 2nd half and it just ramps up from there.. gave me an adrenaline rush and tbh I had to pause the movie a few times because it was too much for me to take in.. part of the reason why it took me 4 hours to finish it. the other part being that I had to give my ears a rest. they started to hurt because the sounds get soo fucking loud sometimes that it starts clipping. i understand it was intended for maximum chaos but it fucked my ears up tbh. i actually feel a bit lightheaded now.

some of the transition stuff was pretty cool imo and I did not expect that. also i only have a vague idea of what all occurred. it is like a nightmare where some things don't make total sense.
I'm thinking it's a comment on identity.
The brothers had a dead father that used to hike and the blonde girls mother is dead and used to sing her that song. The guy he sees with the hatchet is him. He rips his skin off, cuts of his genitals, and disembowels himself. All things that point to question who or what you are. Not sure how the blood/current/outwaters or murder factors in. Maybe just blood is simply representative of our ancestry and the murder is touching on how we all take from each other. Dunno.
