Topic | What would you say is the most recent truly iconic video game? |
Thorn 02/25/23 10:03:54 PM #63: | Yeah, that's my hangup here - Board 8 definitely has its blind spots in terms of how the general public perceives gaming but I don't think Hogwarts: Legacy falls into it really. Like, sure, it's not a JRPG, VN, or Phoenix Wright but it's also not an FPS released after the year 2004 (congrats Halo 2 I decided you were the cutoff.) I feel like if it were genuinely good/noteworthy we'd care more? It should be close enough to our strike zone? I dunno. I agree with the take that to be an "iconic game" you kinda have to be considered pretty universally great, groundbreaking, or innovative or a combination of them. And that doesn't seem to be the case? Like if you were to submit games to a museum to represent the history of gaming/landmark games or some shit is Hogwarts: Legacy really on that list? Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring sure. --- May you find your book in this place. Formerly known as xp1337. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
