Topic | Fried chicken and cornbread in the cafeteria on the first day of Black History |

A lot of what's considered soul food was just southern poor people's food. Who doesn't like fried chicken though. Never met a person who says it tastes bad, at best they don't eat it for health reasons or cause they are vegan/vegetarian. I'd have to look it up again but I remember reading a article stating that watermelons where originally a positive black thing. Something about its what a lot of former slaves decided to farm and it was a symbol of their freedom. Food shouldn't be stereotyped though..not in America at least where we co opt everybody else's food and just americanize it. Like I jokingly say pizza is American simply because almost everyone likes pizza here. But out pizza surely isn't the same as Italian pizza. --- I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process ... Copied to Clipboard! |
