I can be a start of a downhill trend. The reason the DCEU went out in such a wimper was because they released stinkers after stinkers. If MCU continues this, it could lead to their movies not doing so great in the future. Though with how prevelant the MCU still is in our entertainment, I could totally be wrong as well.

But anyways I think this was a big reason there wasn't that much hype for this movie. It most likely didn't test well with the test audience.

It falled from the start because one of the trinity characters (Superman) is nothing like the character that people have known for 70+ years. When people think movie Superman they imagine Both the Reeves Superman. Batman VS Superman should have been 5 movies down the road. They threw those movies out there with no planning at all. Add in casting people who are horrible people in real life. (Heard and Miller) It was always gonna fail.
