I went with Alear since she desperately needs the upgrade anything with a bow or ax would kill her dead forcing a reset on me especially in the Tiki map I still haven't completed it because I haven't figured out a way to deal with the silent casting mage thanks to him Clanne and Framme were useless

The DLC paralogues scale to Alear's internal level, so just promoting Alear alone won't actually make them any easier, In fact, I believe it makes them slightly harder because I think the promotion counts as +1 to Alear's internal level. I would hold off on trying the Tiki paralogue again until after you beat chapter 9 (so you'll have more characters and those additional seals/promotions to work with) and I would avoid using Alear as much as possible until then to keep them from leveling up more. After chapter 9 is when I beat the Tiki paralogue myself.
