The (or my) actual reason that religion and politics are inherently separate is that religion requires faith, but if you make faith part politics you're going to have some problems. But at the same time you can't ban religion in politics any more than you you can ban any other belief. So politicians have, are, and will continue to use religion nefariously.I take that as a challenge.
