Lets set it on a Spacestation with the crew not going anybloodywhere thus alienating the fans of The Original Series and The Next Genedration who grew up with the idea that the show was about a Captain travelling in a Starship and exploring The Galaxy.
With the exception of Jadzia Dax, Quark and Garak the characters were fucking shit (Worf and O'Brien were superior TNG characters so they do not count) and Sisko is the worst Captain ever. I thought it wouldn't be possible to get worse than Picard but they did with Sisko.
The theme tune was shit. So much so they had to remix it 3 times during it's run. It gives the Enterprise theme a run for it's money as worst Star Trek theme.
I couldn't stand all that Prophets and Pah-Wraiths shit and nonsense. The Sisko this, the Sisko that. Oh shut the fuck up that got old after the first 2 times.
I absolutely hated The Bajorans. Worst race in Star Trek. They are even worse than The Kazon.
"Only a Commander can be in charge of a Spacestation"! Quick lets make Sisko Captain to try and win back the fans.
"We do not want to do the Starship thing again" Quick lets bring in The Defiant to try and win back the fans. The best episodes happen onboard The Defiant proving yet again that a Starship is superior than some crap Spacestation.
Twice Babylon 5 won "Best Sci-Fi series" over DS9 and B5 was a show in constant danger of being cancelled.
They turned Gul Dukat and Kai Winn into mustache twirling cartoon villains.

DS9 only became popular after it had finished it's run. But during it's run it was failing miserably which is why they changed things about it.
