I'm not saying this is a good thing but I don't think it's necessarily as bad as you say. I don't think we have enough information to say for sure. There is definitely a bad way in which something like this could have been done. There is also an "eh, not great, but not terrible" way it could have been done. Without context we don't know.

But usually when I say this we find out the context and it makes things even worse though lol. I'm not gonna be shocked if TC comes forward with something else more blatantly racist and I have to be like, "Well, yep, there it is. Your school is racist af."

Did I even take a dramatic stance? I feel like you're pushing me into a dramatic stance to make "your side" of the argument have an opposition >_>. All I said was this happened before and it looks bad and we had infinite opportunities to learn why it looks bad in public eye.
