Also, I speak to doctor's offices literally every day, so it's habit. Sorry I meant more like... why do people never think twice about doing that? I refer to them as Dr. but that's because it's their title. But I introduce people as Dr. so-and-so when they have PhDs as well (at which point they can say whether they're fine with just being _____ ).
