I've always been a major proponent of bodily autonomy. You want to smoke yourself into a vegetative stupor? Go ahead. Have sixteen abortions? Knock yourself out. Jump off a bridge? Why not?

It's not, nor should it ever be, up to the state or anyone else to tell you how to live your life.

The bottom line is a stretch. I understand the sentiment, but it is literally part of the states purpose to determine how it is acceptable to live our lives. Thats how we get rule of law. Be being part of a society you sacrifice certain freedoms (extreme examples being stuff like the freedom to kill people) for certain protections or other freedoms (the freedom to sleep at night without worrying too much about whether youll be murdered in your sleep).
