There's something to be said about the value of good narrative construction even in a big popcorn movie that doesn't have sparkling dialogue, and I think this is an underrated aspect when people judge writing. I wouldn't begrudge a screenplay nom for Avatar or Black Panther for instance. There's just nothing to Top Gun's story though. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! Yesmar ...
