| Topic | Square Enix just can't stop publishing mediocre to downright awful games |

But then it was a free to play battlepass game with premium currency, a game built on the back of recurring purchases and grinding. The UI sucked, the menus were cluttered, it screamed "spend, spend, spend!!!". And apparently? The actual gameplay was pretty good. It's just that everything around the gameplay was fucking terrible. I would have outright bought it if it had launched with a $50 pricetag, no microtransactions, no battle pass. If they wanted to do a CTR Nitro-Fuelled with additional GPs and in-game currency, that'd be one thing. But they built a perfectly serviceable video game that I wanted, and then surrounded it with mobile game elements.
