I know you're jumping to leaps and bounds about the societal implications of an optional piece of dialogue but let me tell you 100% non-ironically, yes. I do believe the experience of a product is ruined when localizers get too into it. I don't care what they're editing, I don't care what they've removed. I want the pure, straight dope right from the creator's brain into mine. If I don't like the final product then it wasn't for me to begin with but it has a right to exist as it was intended. This way the author's true vision can be enjoyed by people all over the world! You realize the character of Skull Face from MGS5 was designed as an embodiment of Kojima's frustrations with being misunderstood in other countries because of localizers. He personally asked for a new translator after 1 because he thought the intent of his work was lost; there's a reason he wants to eliminate the English language. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
