The fun part of JRPGs for me has always been how their growth and battle systems are a bit more interesting. They're probably not actually more complex, but they tend to come with more bells and whistles that make things fun to explore. Traditional WRPGs often just stick to some form of D20 thing that gives me a pretty plain and boring feeling. So I'd like it if that part improved.

I'd like for both genres but JRPGs in particular to have more lasting outcomes from quests. WRPGs are a lot better at that.

if you talk about the original Mass Effect trilogy(Aside from 1 I guess), I agree, recent open world rpgs are filled with generic crap that adds nothing to the world building
