Raetsel_Lapin 01/10/23 4:10:21 PM #433: | ============================ #302: Yelle - Que veux-tu (3:54): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xXvEqo3DKk&list=PLR2ATVrSGTX91hJXNoWIHovzSIqVNBM8u&index=2 Nominator: hotdogturtle [5/14 Remaining] Initial Score: 62.24 Revised Score: 56.27 Final Score: 59.333 [Upgraded to 60.00] [Upgraded to 61.965] [Upgraded to 65.73] (First Reaction: I really like the chorus on this track, it's bouncy & fun (musically, not so much with the lyrics) but the verses feel like they're a few steps behind musically.) !Not as drawn to the chorus this time around, though it is still fairly bouncy. [Final Thoughts: I'm not particularly interested in the story told by the lyrics, though I have nothing against them either. Some of the translations of one of the lines are kinda funny: I'd really love to say to you "I love you" without consonant or vowel Which is oddly relatable. I too am very passionate and lazy. But either way... this has a highly enjoyable energy to it, like a dance-y pop song done right. I don't know that I quite want it at that 60 point level, but it's pretty good and very close to it at least.] [Later: Minor boost to Neo Clump. That line is pretty great.] [Later: Is that line relatable enough to get an extra point? ...Yes.] [Later: Is it worth several extra points? ...Yes.] ============================ -and we reach the 66 point mark here, at #301:- ============================ #301: Coeur de Pirate - Combustible (3:30): https://open.spotify.com/track/6xflVTxAELGne4B7X2thlv?si=RdU-L_a4TZepAgUpxge1lQ Nominator: Jesse Custer [14/29 Remaining] Initial Score: 53.3? (treated as 53.35) Revised Score: 55.55 Final Score: 55.55 [Upgraded to 57.292] [Upgraded to 58.292] [Upgraded to 60.75] [Upgraded to 66.004] (First Reaction: But I warned you: monsters are hiding Non-human metaphor, check ; alternate personas, check ; blunt sadness, check. Well, I can't say this song isn't the literal definition of what I've asked for, Still, somehow, I'm not entirely sold on the song itself.. I'm missing a bit of a dark edge to her voice or the instruments to sell the misery. I don't really feel the inner torment in the way I'd like to; I do kinda like the song anyway, but it's missing the darkness to jump to the top of the charts. The song feels very "53.3?" in that I'm sure I want to give the first three digits, but would be rather content putting anything 0-9 as the last digit. But that uncertainty would break my formatting, so we'll call it down the middle and enter a 5 on all official records.) I still feel the same way as before. The lyrics are exactly what I want and her performance is good, but her voice feels too pure and bright for a broken monster. It keeps me from forming a true connection to the song and leaves it as something that's enjoyable and very close to being what I want, but not quite reaching its full potential. Which is unfortunate because I do like her music, just not as much on this specific track. [Final Thoughts: Too upbeat and poppy for the way the lyrics make me feel, but there's some great lyrics here & I generally like her music, so I kinda like this.] [Later: Let's move this one up a bit.] [Later Still: Eh, let's add one extra point exactly.] [Later: I think I like this. Going to move this one up a tier as well.[ [Later: This is another of those songs that starts winning me over with how many times I listen to it as I refuse to cut it. Adding another six points.] ============================ Standings update soon. --- "Toothpaste is real and I hate everything in the world now."-MrCactuar ... Copied to Clipboard! |
