This is accurate, and it looks like a nice simple way to learn. The way I was taught was a sort of weird different "song". Because Japanese follows the vowels A, I, U, E, O, most syllables are just a consonant plus one of those vowels. So there was a rhythm that went

A Ka Sa Ta, Na Ha Ma Ya, Ra Wa N

Those are the beginning syllables for the Japanese alphabet, and each one will continue with the vowels. Example:

A > I > U > E > O
Ka > Ki > Ku > Ke > Ko
Sa > Shi > Su > Se > So

And so forth. Unfortunately it's not meant to be a 100% guide since there are things like Chi and Tsu, or the W's or Y's.
