You are greatly rewarded for your ability to gather information and spit it out on a test, report, or presentation. And this trains you to rely on facts in disagreements or against someone's lies. But in practice, in the workforce and in social groups, facts are very weak compared to the echo chambers of people's herds or their pre-conceived notions and biases.
