Spain loses, Germany Wins = 1st Japan, 2nd Spain UNLESS Germany outscores Costa Rica by a huge enough margin to overcome Spain's massive GD in which case Germany steals 2nd. Spain loses, Costa Rica Wins = 1st Japan, 2nd Costa Rica (unless Costa Rica outscores Japan by 6 and they swap) That seems like pretty good odds, especially if they can let Japan build enough of a lead to put points on the board themselves.
