The story was a mess but it cannot be understated how high quality the gameplay was. I would go as far as to say the MGSV is mechanically the best gameplay experience ever in a video game for me. I also get 4, the movie, being in the opposite end of the story spectrum. However, that also has such an absurd amount of charm and is an unforgettable experience. I adore its bullshit. Obviously 3 is just good on all fronts. And MGS1 is a much more compact, solid, frankly revolutionary experience.
