The only issue is that you have to go through a really weak "trial" dungeon in order to get the equipment for the characters. They begin with the same gear that you last left them with, so Yang is the only one you can actually bring into the final dungeon without first going through the trial dungeon at least once and fighting a lame boss, or shopping.

Ideally, there would be a new, optional side area in the final dungeon where you could find new weapons and armor for the characters, and when they re-join you they would have decent, new equipment to allow them to survive the trip.
