75. Coming Home In The Dark (Netflix)

This is a meandering sort of nihilistic movie, but I think I kinda liked it.

Coming Home In The Dark is about a father, wife, and two sons on a road trip that get accosted by two men with guns. Something terrible happens and it turns out the men have a vendetta against the father.

This movie felt long at times, while also being an interesting short burn kind of film. As the story unfolds, it becomes more interesting, but never interesting enough to blow me away. It's a sort of "random acts of terribleness" film, in a way, but it never really feels justified to go to the lengths we see the movie go.

This movie does get more clever than it probably needs to be at times, but again not in a way that blows me away. There's some clear thought placed into this. But by the time we're at the end, I felt myself not really caring about the outcome. And then the outcome was... not too satisfying?

I dunno, if it's something that interests you, check it out. But you don't need to actually check it out.
