And, while comparisons to Weimar Germany are in vogue right now, its important to remember that the Nazis were enabled by the traditional conservatives and even centrists. But also that the Republican Party is just straight up fascist at this point and can win without ever getting a majority of the vote.

Honestly, IMO, that was always going to happen. Trump winning in large part due to the sheer incompetence of Hillarys campaign and the malfeasance of our media merely accelerated it in a very dangerous way. Neoliberalism was never going to extinguish this though: its consistent failure to improve peoples lives helps fuel the sense of grievance that powers fascism.

I mean, LOL, Obama was just in the news griping about wokeness and what kinds of issues are woke? Well, trans people, for one!
