Yep. The fact that neolibs have allowed comservatives to openly espouse their bigotry and made up fantasies and treat it as open discussion is just... Or the fact that for years now, trans people have been saying "these bigots are coming for our rights and they'll come for you as well" and we were told we were overreacting or that we were pushing away allies, all the while neolibs were totally fine negotiating our rights away... There's more than a few laws I can think of that were like "yes, we're a democrat majority state but because the 30% Republicans in the state senate disagree with this provision ensuring trans people can't be fired for being trans, well, let's scrap that since its unpopular" when they didn't even have to negotiate. Giving conservatives all that stuff for free. Or Republicans trying to pass things like "bill to give a bunch of funding to all these corporations and a few hundred thousand for this think tank that is writing up policies to arrest women for murder if they miscarry and are found to have done anything that contributed to it, and also ban trans people from bathrooms" and democrats in state politics managed to get the think tank funding out that time around but let everything else pass without even saying anything. :/ Like. When you allow anyone to negotiate the rights of a group away, and especially one that isn't even represented in the negotiations? That's just fascism on both ends of the discussion.

Yeah, I think the most upsetting part about the conversation is that we, fundamentally, are not allowed in the conversation! Even putative allies often seem as though they would rather not have our input, as those we are incapable of representing ourselves.

Like, literally John Stewart and John Oliver and a few other cis men are getting praised for essentially presenting the very same arguments we make all the time. Though the latter at least made it in part by citing specific trans people in the segment, it seems. It's just incredibly frustrating.

Like, I was talking about my experience with getting Husky to cover laser hair removal in class earlier and how they now require you to get letters (note the plural) from Psych Ds for literally everything beyond HRT which is darkly hilarious, because HRT is way more impactful than laser and they do that via informed consent and even the professor, who is a practicing clinician (and all around leftist dude) with a doctorate degree in Social Work didn't know about that.
This is in Connecticut. And Husky doesn't reimburse, so good luck finding a dermatologist who stoops to doing laser! And fuck you if you have light hair, because you can count the number of electrologists Husky will pay for in the entire state on one hand and have fingers left over.

I'm ranting at this point, but the point is that CT has a great reputation for trans rights and trans care, and they still really don't seem to want to actually, like...pay for it.
