49. Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 (Netflix)

I vaguely remember the first film which tells you how much I cared about it. This one goes... a direction, that's for sure.

Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 picks up where the last one left off. Some loser police officer in the small town next to it decides to investigate the murders from the night prior where the final girl and the two monsters who were dead before are now alive and locked up in jail. Things get weird when they investigate the scene.

So this movie feels a lot more meta than the first movie, which was a typical slasher film that tried to be a little meta too. This one goes full force and ends up in a very strange position with 30 minutes left in the movie that is just basically all meta. And it's not good. It's not great. It's not funny.

What's worse is that they have characters you just cannot care about, and they try humor there but it doesn't work. Not a whole lot works in this movie, but it sure has a vision. Just not a tremendous one. I still don't get the purpose of it, and I feel like it undercuts the first film which I gave a 5.5 before, so say what you will about that.

But the movie is just really bad in that last half hour and I really did not enjoy myself. Not a good film. Gets some points for a couple highlights and good effects and make-up.

Rating: 3/10
