Now that competitors are much better its losing some steam, but there are still tons of people who will just use Chrome because its Chrome. If you are like, a super casual computer-person and don't care about your browser beyond "works" you probably just immediately download Chrome and never go elsewhere. It is because it's the phone browser. It's the same reason that Safari is #2: phones.
