Maxx C is definitely expendable. It's a really powerful card but it rarely helps after turn 1 and as long as your deck can function with an opening hand it's really just there to nuke your opponent. I can see dropping it if your deck is tight on space and prefers other combo pieces/extenders.

But since everyone runs Maxx C I kinda feel like I need 3 Ash and 2 Called in every deck just to maximize my chances of being allowed to play. Maxx has about a 30% chance of showing up in an opening hand, while 3Ash2Called means you'll draw into at least one of them about 50% of the time.
