Romania under the Antonescu dictatorship during WWII was responsible for roughly 1 in 20 Jewish deaths in the Holocaust: somewhere between 280,000 and 380,000 Romanian and Ukrainian Jews. Many of them died in Romanian-governed Transnistria, where there were several "slow death" camps strung out along the west bank of the Bug River. In them, Jews and others were exterminated by the slowest but cheapest method: starvation.

Yet Antonescu's regime hardly rates even a mention in the list of crimes against humanity during WWII. Instead, the spotlight's so focused on the guy with the toothbrush mustache that other mass killers just melt into the shadows.
