Real jobs to these people are jobs where you are making six figures and are able to live on that job, buy a car, buy a house, support a family and so on, if your job does not afford you those things it is not a real job, that comes from my experience and my obversions of people throughout my life, that being said, my job is being a picker in a warehouse from 6am to 5ish pm 4 days out of the week It's not all their faults tho, our society has beaten it into us that jobs like these are for failures and lazy or poor educated people and so people repeat it, especially people who don't work those jobs why wouldn't they repeat it, as messed up up as it is people like feeling superior to others, people like feeling their success while watching others wallow in failure or inferiority, not all of them of course, but a good chunk of them do and some will actually make it a life goal to make society create more people to look down on because they can only feel something akin to happiness and pleasure knowing not only are they successful but others are failures and it's their own faults because they were not smart enough, driven enough, determined enough to reach that level.

From the moments of our births to the day we die we are competing, competing and competing wither we like it or not and such a thing can really damage a mind depending on how it's raised to handle success and failure.
