Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Alright, this one's an absolute must-watch. Grand Theft Auto speedruns are always kind of a 'meh' for me because I just don't like the series or genre much and they can be sort of repetitive, yet I always have a GREAT time watching them, and for sure in this case it's because of the runner, kz_frew, who brings an absolutely infectious energy to this run and is genuinely funny while also performing the run well. I don't like the game and still loved this run so this is an easy recommend to anyone.

- The best part of this game as a speedrun are the physics. Getting off the moped and just watching it fly off the screen never stops being funny, and the accidental car crashes are brilliant every time. Speedrunning this game is like a roguelike, you never know what you're gonna get.

- This run is a gold mine for random quotes about the gameplay. Some examples:

"We skip the party because we're too cool to be seen there for very long."
"We're gonna sit here and be told that this is where to buy guns, and then never buy guns. (Runs over someone in the street as he's talking) Sorry sir."
"We're gonna take another phone call and fall into the bushes immediately."
"It's faster in this game to get rid of the door to your vehicle. We can do this by grinding on the passenger side here."

- "I don't make the same mistake twice. I just make different mistakes over and over again."

- After forgetting introductions: "Hi I'm kz_frew, we're fifteen minutes into Vice City, this is pmctrilogy."

- There was a particularly funny part of this run where kz puts his controller down but then realizes he needs it and scrambles to grab it again. "That was probably the worst I've done in a while but it was funny so I don't care."

- There was a well-deserved emotional speech at the end of this one where kz_frew announced that after many GDQ runs, he's going to retire from GDQ and step aside for other runners. It was very sweet and didn't come across as too self-aggrandizing at all - he's earned the platform to wish farewell and pass the baton. He'll be missed!
