My husband got his first job at 14 too and he would never want our daughter to have to do the same. Kids should be kids.

it wasn't something i 'had' to do. i wanted to get a job so i could have spending money of my own. getting $100 every 2 weeks was pretty sweet for 14 year-old me. it was not something my parents pressured me into, or anything.

That means absolutely nothing though. Parents can and will lie.

sure, but it gives the state a channel to punish them.

Considering they've also made it so minors can work late on school nights, and they're only pushing this because adults are slowly refusing to being taken advantage of anymore...

that's messed up. i wasn't allowed to work past 6:30 PM until i was 16.

Don't worry, all these businesses will follow the law just like they did with mask mandates

the problem with the mask mandates, at least where i lived, is there was practically no enforcement. and i obviously can't speak for every company, as i'm sure there are shady ones out there, but Kroger was very strict in following those minor labor laws. like, if it was 6:35 and i hadn't clocked out yet, it set off some internal alarm.
