He was pointing out that current Nintendo was doing good on the JRPG front as a reply to the "true 25 years later" comment. It would also not make any sense to stick it at the PS1 or SNES time frame as Disgaea didn't come out until the PS2. Heck, it wouldn't even make sense to even put it as a "win for Nintendo" unless you were explicitly talking about the Switch as that is the only time they've moved over to Nintendo. Ogre Battle is the only one that you really could view as a "back then" game series, but as you pointed out they're coming out with a remake as a Switch exclusive (as far as I know) + Triangle Strategy has a lot in common with Ogre Battle and could be argued as a straight spiritual sequel.
