Beyond his argument it's pretty clear that Nintendo is the big winner for JRPGs by a comfortable margin. There are some solid PS4/5 JRPGs, but the vast majority are ones like P5R or DQ11 where they also exist on the Switch and those are also the "big winners" for the console itself. Especially if you also include PC as a viable way to play the JRPGs as an alternative as between Switch and PC there aren't exactly any JRPGs worth talking about otherwise. Inversely there are plenty of ones exclusive to Nintendo, Triangle Strategy, Xeno 3, etc., that are both in the "are system sellers" and "isn't available anywhere else" (though in the case of Triangle Strategy it is likely to get a PC version eventually). They were talking about back then, I thought? Because PS1 definitely surpassed SNES over time. Maybe you're right if you're talking about current gens. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
