Toy Story: What a brilliant idea for a movie, even if no kid in the 1990s is playing with cowboys and Flash Gordon action figures. Everything being from the perspective of tiny people gives the world an alien sense, even if the first movie is hideous by modern standards. I still haven't seen the fourth movie.

Shadow of the Beast (Amiga): This is from 1989? Goddamn! For that alone, it gets to be up here. I looked at this and pegged it for 1994. Looking closer, I can tell that it's older than that, but this is REALLY impressive for the late 80s.

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder: Perfectly fine spritework. I won't lie -- unless your game has some kind of REALLY incredible spritework, like Persona 4 Arena or something, it's just sort of going to wash over me. I've seen so many high-quality indie spritework games that I'd more easily remember a crappy N64-style indie game. I've also already talked about my distaste for steampunk.

Guilty Gear: I am impressed by the sprite work, there are a few fighting games that go all-out on the art. But the only characters who stand out to me are I-No and Bridget; everyone else is completely forgettable. Like, Slayer? Raven? Sol Badguy? Completely uninspired designs, and Sol is the main character. Even Bridget is only memorable because reasons.

D Tier
Halo Legends: The Duel
Harley Quinn
Tekken: I mean, I like Paul Phoenix's haircut as much as anyone else, but there's nothing really special about Tekken's art style. Tekken 4 has probably the most interesting atmosphere, since it has a weirdly serious tone? It's very hard to define that game's single player mode, it presents information in almost a horror game way?
Cromartie High School
Brandy & Mr. Whiskers: Zero reaction to this whatsoever. I've seen so many generic-looking cartoons in this topic; even if this one is really interesting in practice, it's a drop in the ocean.
