Topic | Post an animated series, comic, or video game, and I'll tier its visual design. |

First of all, obviously all of its ideas are stolen from other, more intelligent series. "Rednecks in space" is taken from Alien, Zerg are taken from Aliens, Protoss are obviously just space elves, and the UED is obviously just 1984. Every image, every bit of technology, every concept is lifted... And yet? In the first game, everything still works. It's all super cohesive and perfect. This world feels REALLY genuine and good. I love how the instruction manual had little descriptions of each unit's origins, and the tarrasque talks about how it was a peaceful elephant-like animal, etc. The second game, though, reduces the 'lived-in' feeling by making all of the Terran stuff, in general, shinier and less-duct-tape-y, the Zerg less disgusting and gross, and the Protoss more... how do I put this? Fantastical? Warcrafty? Like, let me give an example. In the first game, there's a unit called the High Templar, which is just a Protoss who devoted his life to studying psychic powers. So, when you select him, his portrait is cast in darkness, because it's like 'here's a guy who's so dedicated to the upper reaches of the mind that he no longer really exists in the same world as you, like he does in a literal sense, but he's just so beyond your comprehension that all you can see are his glowing eyes.' In the second game, he's just there. You can see his face in bright light and everything. The Protoss in general are made much more heroic, while in the first game they get up to some questionable stuff, and let's not even talk about the finale where Kerrigan turns into a naked space god shooting DBZ lasers. But, I'm willing to rank this series by just Starcraft 1, so here it is. B Tier Ghost Trick The Elder Scrolls III Hotline Miami Warhammer 40K Tetris Effect Skies of Arcadia Kirby's Epic Yarn Return of the Obra Dinn Superman (Max Fleischer) Real Life Night is Short, Walk on Girl Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Pokemon RBY Columbia (Bioshock) Pokemon Adventures Danganronpa Wario Land: Shake It Stein's Gate (VN) It Takes Two Final Fantasy (Series) Viewtiful Joe Bleach The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Observer Yoshi's Crafted World Dragon Ball FighterZ Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Dead Space Bayonetta Junji Ito The Old Guitarist Undertale/Deltarune Kingdom Hearts Superman Smashes the Klan Kubo and the Two Strings Tales from the Crypt Comix Zone El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Punisher (Greg Rucka) Halo Legends - The Package Samurai Jack Hollow Knight God of War (Original Series) Mario Strikers Journey (Game) Bloodborne Punch-Out!! Stop-motion is good for exactly one thing, and that's making horror movies for kids. This is that, so it gets a pass. God of War (2018) C Tier Calvin and Hobbes Xenoblade Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny Kholat Mirror's Edge Stray MORE Flip Flappers The Dark Spire Jet Set Radio Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Live A Live New Pokemon Snap The Black Cauldron Arcane Knights in the Nightmare Grits (Game): Ah yes, another 'simple watercolors and minimalism seen from super far off' game. Pretty nice-looking, I appreciate it. This is definitely capable of lasting an entire game without getting old. FLCL Dreaming Mary Fortnite Hawkeye (David Aja) Kill Six Billion Demons Klaus (2019) Red Dead Redemption Kingdom (Manga) Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Super Mario Galaxy The World Ends With You Super Mario Bros (NES) Zenless Zone Zero One Piece Frozen: I've seen the first movie, but not the second. Aesthetically, like just the Platonic ideal of it, Frozen is fine. "1800s Norway," okay, sure. I'll allow it. It's completely fine. I obviously appreciate all of the symbolism behind the use of snow and ice, but honestly, I'm not the BIGGEST fan of Frozen? Overwatch Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (2D art) Yu-Gi-Oh!
