With the first few tracks I wasn't sure if I liked the vocals or not, like some parts sounded really good and some parts sounded...I guess weird is the best word?
It's noticeable how much Mike's voice improved as the album went on (recall each track was recorded a month after the previous). These days, he does not sound like the same guy he did on the first few albums, and I mean that in a good way. As I said, this was sort of a "bridge album" - a metamorphosis from the band that recorded "Eat Out My Heart" into the one that would record "Arthuriana." I've posted about both songs here on B8 before, as they're two of their most popular.

BCT's description of their later albums got me interested in checking out their other stuff; I do enjoy both arena rock and longer albums so Weirdest Hits sounds like something right up my alley.
Let me know what you think! The soaring guitars are a lot more dominant on the albums produced by Eric LaBrosse, the first of which is Weirdest Hits. As I said, I would've nominated that one if I thought people would do it. A 77-minute, 18-track album from an artist people don't recognize would turn them away so I went with 48/13 instead. That said, next week's album is 76 minutes exactly but... it's Sir Elton John, who needs no introduction.

HA! I'd like to say that's the reason I used that word, but maybe it did worm its way into my head via the song. One listen isn't really enough for me to distinguish all the tracks in my mind. The one I specifically remember is about having "F U" money.
Psychology is a powerful thing. Subconscious stuff happens. And the "F U money" one is "Square Root of All Evil" - the most acoustic song of the bunch, and also one of the funniest because where else would you find someone saying they'll use a Van Gogh as toilet paper?
