Speaking of Ash's dad, I would like if either the last ever episode or Ash's last episode, whichever comes first, ends with Ash battling his dad atop a snowy mountain. We wouldn't get a full look at him, maybe he has his hat down obscuring part of his face. He would say something like "Delia's told me all about your achievements, and I couldn't be prouder of you. Are you ready to take on your old man?" and the episode ends as the battle between Pikachu and Ash's dad's Raichu begins.

Holy shit, I hope that happens. Good chance we're finding out this year.

Like I said above, I'm still thinking this arc of the anime was designed to end Ash's story and start Goh's. It's a radical departure from before and most of the main characters from regions past have appeared or been referenced in some way. It really feels like this is the end, and my thought was that Rica Matsumoto is retiring. She's 53 y/o now. She's done this half her life. She may be ready for a new chapter. Ikue Otani may be ready to retire, too, but in her case they have thousands of clips they can reuse like they did when she was on maternity leave.

May not appearing is relevant because her Japanese VA retired. They don't change VAs in Japan like they do here. If the VA is done, they usually retire the character except in rare circumstances when they can get away with something (see Persona 5). This is why they'd send Ash off with a bang.
