Oh, everyone saw that coming. She's a Kenobi? Oh, everyone wanted that except it would require tainting Obi-Wan's character in some way. Palpatine? Well it's all we have left and it doesn't make sense but it's okay because Sith shenanigans. Her being no one or related to some other lesser known Jedi from the past were the only decent solutions. The latter would have been hollow, so making her a nobody at least presented the stronger message that anyone can have power. And if it wasn't Rian, it would have been a different director taking the blame for it. It was a cursed position to be in.
