Two Americans in an L4 Grasshopper (which was basically a Piper Cub trainer) spotted a German Fi-156 Storch spotter plane. Now the Grasshopper has a top speed of 76 knots and no armament, and the Storch a max speed of 95 knots and carried a single 7.92mm machine gun. The Americans managed to surprise the German plane flying at low altitude. They pulled out their .45 pistols, opened the cockpit door, and opened fire.
