Well, yeah, that just makes it even more of a joke. Can you honestly say that these song writers are getting any royalties at all even when their song hits the top charts?

And like you just admitted, many artists and producers will just up and steal a song if they can't buy it out at a cheap price.

my uncle lives pretty comfortably, so i guess so? and i wasnt saying that my uncle had his songs stolen, he sold them to the artists, the artists changed a few lines, and put their names next to his.

While your uncle might be an exception that is definitely not the rule.
Correct, most country artists don't write their own songs. However, the vast majority of popular country songs are written by the same 5-6 people, almost all of whom have degrees in songwriting/music and were born into wealth.


idk, i'm just going off of what i know from him and hanging out in nashville as a kid. i know he's part of a collective of songwriters that started when they were all stagehands and shit in their twenties for the grand ole opry. dont know shit about the other guys really, but looking at their website, theyve contributed to songs to records whose total sales exceed 10 million.
